Dedicated to Excellence in Foot & Ankle Care

Dr. Alan Bocko, DPM

Dr. Bocko grew up in a close-knit community in San Diego, California. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from San Diego State University before pursuing his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, graduating in 1994.

He went on to complete a three-year residency at Stanford University Medical Center and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Palo Alto, California. His training focused on medicine and surgery of the foot and ankle, with specialized emphasis on reconstructive rear-foot and ankle surgery. In his final year, he was honored to serve as chief resident of his program at Stanford.

Following residency, Dr. Bocko completed a year-long fellowship in Sports Medicine and Surgery at Sports, Orthopedic, and Rehabilitation Medicine Associates (S.O.A.R) in Menlo Park, California. This intensive program gave him the opportunity to work with collegiate and professional athletes throughout the Bay Area. His research during residency and fellowship led to numerous published articles in podiatric and sports medicine journals, as well as contributions to several textbook chapters.

Board Certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery, Dr. Bocko holds surgical privileges at multiple area hospitals. He treats patients of all ages and backgrounds, with special interests in sports medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, and arthritis of the foot and ankle.

After practicing in Chapel Hill, Durham, and Wake Forest, Dr. Bocko established Chapel Hill Foot and Ankle Associates, P.A. in 1993 and has proudly served the Chapel Hill community since 1998. An avid lifelong athlete, he enjoys running, mountain biking, hiking, and playing basketball. He and his wife are proud to call Chapel Hill home, where they live with their two daughters.
